VMworld 2020

VMware’s VMworld 2020 event kicks off in one week.

For 2020, VMworld is organized differently to align with the new reality. Instead of multiple VMworld events, one virtual VMworld event is organized. This VMworld 2020  ‘Online Around the Globe’ event is held from September 29th to October 1st, 2020.

The big advantage for you, is that you can attend VMworld this year for free with a General pass. The Premier pass offers a more interactive way to attend VMworld and offers technology deep-dives that are not available with the General pass, like Birds of a Feather sessions and Hands-on Labs.

Note:
Premier passes are only available for $ 299 until September 22n

For this purpose, the list below is divided into the two different pass types.

As Identity geeks, we encourage you to attend the following sessions at VMware's VMworld 2020 event:

General Pass

For VMworld attendees with a General pass, the following sessions are available:

HCP1557 Virtualize Active Directory the Right Way Star

Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) allows organizations to deploy a scalable and secure directory service for managing users, resources and applications. Although virtualizing domain controllers has been a simple and supported operation for many years, many organizations have been very reluctant to do so. Organizations have struggled to understand how to properly navigate and avoid the multiple pitfalls (such as synchronization, convergence, security, time management, availability and data integrity) inherent in virtualizing a production, enterprise-level ADDS infrastructure. Even when they have virtualized their domain controllers, administrators still worry about the security, safety and integrity of their ADDS infrastructure. Join this session with Sander Berkouwer, Matt Liebowitz and Deji Akomolafe to see how to virtualize AD the right way.

HCP2047 vSphere and Active Directory: Better Security Together

Microsoft Active Directory forms the core of many organizations’ infrastructure. Active Directory is DNS, DHCP, certificate management, identity management and user authorization rolled into one, and it makes a very attractive target for attackers. Bob Plankers, Technical Marketing Architect at VMware, talks about how to use native features in VMware vSphere to best protect Active Directory (and any workload, really) from the risk of external and internal threats.

ISWL1091 Strong Authentication and MFA with Federated Identity in vSphere

Ken Drori, vSphere Security Product Line Manager at VMware, and Joshua Solomin, Product Line Manager at VMware, explore strong authentication and authorization techniques in VMware vSphere, including multi-factor authentication (2FA/MFA), Active Directory Federation Services, LDAP and Identity Federation, as well as the roadmap for identity federation across VMware infrastructure products.

DEM3237 Identity Federation in vSphere 7

VMware vSphere 7 adds Identity Federation, a method for attaching VMware vCenter Server to enterprise identity providers. We discuss what this changes, why this is great, and how this impacts security and operations.

DWMM2571 Architect Dynamic Environment Manager for 250K+ Users with Best Practices

In this End-user Computing (EUC) session with Manjunath Murthy, Senior Consultant, VMware, you will learn about:

  1. Configuring VMware Dynamic Environment Manager for large environments with more than 250,000 users:
  2. Utilizing Active Directory attributes and multiple DFS paths for a user profiles share
  3. Using FSLogix with Dynamic Environment Manager and VMware App Volumes for a profile/Office 365 container

Premier Pass

For VMworld attendees with a Premier pass, the following additional sessions are available:

Note:
As a Premier pass holder, you can book up to 3 roundtables and 2 guided workshops.

HCP2712 Expert Roundtable: Virtualizing Active Directory Domain Services on vSphere with Matt Liebowitz and Deji Akomolafe

Tuesday, September 29th, 9:30 PM – 10:00 PM CEST
Wednesday, September 30th, 1:30PM-2:00 PM CEST

Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) allows organizations to deploy a scalable directory service for managing users, resources and applications. Although virtualizing Domain Controllers has been a simple and supported operation for many years, organizations have struggled to understand how to avoid the multiple pitfalls (such as synchronization, security, time management, availability and data integrity) inherent in virtualizing a production, enterprise-level ADDS infrastructure. This session will discuss and demonstrate considerations and practices for optimally and securely virtualizing your Active Directory infrastructure by showing real life failure scenarios and presenting applicable remediation that a Domain Administrator can immediately apply to their operational practices in order to overcome the afore-mentioned concerns.

HCP2715 Expert Roundtable: Virtualizing Active Directory Domain Services on vSphere with Matt Liebowitz and Deji Akomolafe

Wednesday, September 30th, 7:00PM-7:30PM CEST
Thursday, October 1st,  11:00 AM  –  11:30 AM CEST

In this roundtable Matt will lead a discussion around considerations and practices for optimally and securely virtualizing your Active Directory infrastructure and will review applicable remediation that a domain administrator can immediately apply to their operational practices.
